A movie thats driving me CRAZY I don't know what it's called.?

When I was younger 1990's there was a movie where the kid is either on a plane or a train or something headed somewhere and he draws this guy and he comes to life.the man he draws had like shaggy kind of hair kinda tall..im not for sure but i thought whoopi goldberg was in it....maybe not PLEASE someone help me....I've been wondering what this movie is for years...
