Is redness around stitches normal?

I had a mole removed 6 days ago and see redness at the incision site. The redness seems to have been there since I got the stitches. I have not seen an increase in redness, but I have never had stitches and am not sure if typical redness is cause for concern or not. I also am the epitome of fair skin and respond very sensitively to skin trauma. Simply scratching my skin can leave a red streak, so it's hard to tell if it's just from the stitches healing or if it's something to question. Thank you.
